In the past, the boys of Cisnadioara had to perform some really harsh tests in order to demonstrate their manhood. The night before their wedding, boys had to roll a boulder from the bottom of the Citadel hill up to the top. And of course, the bigger the rock, the bigger the love for the future wife. However, this practice was not just a romantic gesture, but also a defense mechanism. The Cisnadioara Citadel was an observation point used by the villagers to detect any potential danger, while the boulders were thrown down the hill towards the enemies.
